Question: I have a 2wd Dakota Quad cab, I just got a SERVICE 4WD message on the dash, what is that?

Service message on dash came on saying I SERVICE 4WD; It is a 2WD truck!?

I do realize that this has been posted over a year but it didn't look like anyone has responded. Additionally, I don't know if this would be an issue where you could take it to the dealer to fix but this is what I found from the following website http://www.safercar.gov/:
