Question: Oil change every 5000 or 10000 miles?
I went in for an oil change at 5000, but was told I do not need the oil change until 10000...soon after, the service required light came on in the Camry.
Any thoughts?

It is very strange since I know there are many patterns of oil change. For example in Europe (where I am from) it's standard you change engine oli in 10 000 miles intervals (15 000 kilometers as we count in kilometers here but real distance is the same). Some people in Europe change oil every 6000 miles (10 000 kilometers) which is an old pattern but it still exists.
When I was in USA I had met two different options: first was every 3000 miles and second every 7500 miles.
To make it even more complicated I have heard that under severe road conditions you need to change oil in 5000 miles intervals (in USA).
I personally change engine oil in my 1997 Camry in 5000 miles intervals since I prefer USA style and however I drive under normal conditions I want to use "hard conditions" pattern to give my engine more of fresh oil.
So you have many options here and you have to make your own decision.

Yes I think 5000 mi oil change is good.
I think 5000 mi is good. I live in the USA and I change between 4 and 5000, I do alot of stop and go driving.
