Question: Sunglare washes out Message Center data

After a test drive in overcast, I bought and drove subject vehicle into desert sunlight and was surprised to see the data display fade in glare from overhead. I've built a black hood to cover the screen and complained to the factory and dealer. They are "checking out the problem, and recommending contact with the dealer's service dept.," which I did before seeking design relief with an aftermarket solution. Anyone else having the problem??

I find the blue light on the dash difficult to see in the sun PERIOD. When I wear sunglasses, which is most of the time in the daylight, the blue is even harder to see. This has been one of my biggest peeves from the beginning with my Escape. Red is so much easier to read and doesn't diminish through the tint of sunglasses.

Whereas sales typically trend downward toward the end of a vehicle’s life cycle, the outgoing first-generation Escape turned in its best performance ever for 2011, mo ...
