Question: Temparature/coolant sensors

Impala has on occasion gone into limp mode just after the temp gauge stop working. AC would also stop working. I replaced the temp. sensor on the engine but it did not fix the problem. I was told on another forum that there is another coolant sensor on the reservoir tank that is the culprit. The only other sensor/switch that I could find is the one on the side of the radiator near the battery. Is this the other coolant sensor.
