As the title states, truck and SUV resale values are in the tubes, and for anyone with a pulse, this is nothing new. Buyers are steering clear of larger vehicles as if they’re poisonous, and the future looks bleak for the used market as well. Every Sunday I swing by a local street that has been inadvertently transformed into a used car lot, and lately, it’s been occupied by nothing but SUVs and trucks. They’re marked down tremendously, and yet they sit. I like to call it The Graveyard. To drive the point home, here are some statistics:
“The buyer of a 2008 Expedition XLT, with a base MSRP of $31,345, could expect to sell it for about $10,156 after three years.” For contrast, smaller car resale value has risen 3.5 percent, so your track-ready JCW Mini Cooper S your spouse thinks is uncomfortable was a pretty smart purchase after all.
