Ford has just announced the debut of their new blind spot mirror, slated to be standard on most Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles in 2009. Once an approaching car disappears out of the regular side mirror’s range, a simple convex mirror placed in the outside upper corner of the side mirror captures the car’s path as it passes into your blind spot.
The decision to include this came from drive clinics conducted by the manufacturer. 76 percent of the participants said they felt more confident driving with the blind spot mirror. No need to worry about turning on a system, or looking for a flashing arrow, this mirror just gives you a better view. Sounds like a sweet deal to us.
