Saab Australia To Plant Lots And Lots Of Trees

September 19th, 2008 · No Comments

A little while back, Saab Australia ran a couple of advertisements touting the company’s line up as completely green. The ads claimed that every Saab sold was a carbon-neutral vehicle, and that the company planned to plant 17 trees to offset the vehicle’s negative environmental effects over its lifespan. Turns out that was a bit of a fib. The 17 trees offset the car’s environmental impacts over one year—not a whole lifetime of Saab fun. A watchdog group called the company out on the false claim, and in an effort to make good, Saab Australia is going to plant 12,500 native trees in the land down under to make up for the cars sold during the ad campaign. Good news for koalas. Bad news for Saab. [Autoblog]
