We’re big fans of driving schools that allow people to get more acquainted with their vehicle’s handling characteristics at speed. Organizations like SCCA and NASA provide fantastic class room and on track instruction in your own personal vehicle. The more you learn, the better prepared you are for almost any situation on the road. For years, insurance companies have covered vehicles that participate in this kind of instruction so long as the events weren’t timed competition. According to an article published in the New York Times, many insurer’s are closing what they see as a loophole and denying coverage to any vehicle that may find its way onto a track.
