More Painful Extravagance: McLaren F1 Goes For $4.09 Million

October 30th, 2008 · No Comments

Yep. One car sold for $4.09 million. To be fair, this isn’t some Dodge Caravan. It’s the very last road-going McLaren F1to have ever been produced. Not familiar with the F1? Built by British manufacturer McLaren, the car held the title of fastest in the world for many a year. Make no mistake, it’s a marvel of engineering, and this particular car spent most of its life in the company show room. With a shade over 300 miles on the odometer, it’s a good bet this particular F1 has never turned a wheel in anger, either. Does that make it worth the painful amount of money the Houston-based owner spent on it? That depends on your point of view, but it’s hard to imagine this car getting more valuable with time.
