The 2009 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is still young, but it looks like a clear theme is already developing. GM rolled out its Converj Hybrid Concept and Lexus managed to join the party for its 20th anniversary with the 2010 Lexus HS 250h. A dedicated-hybrid, the HS 250h is wider and longer than the current IS 250, and Lexus claims the car is the world’s first dedicated hybrid luxury vehicle. Powered by an Atkinson-cycle 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine combined with an electric motor, the car is good for 187 horsepower. What’s really cool is that Lexus claims the HS 250h should be able to lay down some seriously impressive fuel economy numbers – besting even the best Lexus on sale today by up to 30 percent. Expect to see the car in dealer showrooms by mid 2010.
