According to Motor Trend, Buick’s ditching its long-standing image of large, powerful octogenarian haulers for a more svelte line up. That means a range of products that are not only smaller, but employ more efficient motors as well. You can also forget any massive product lines, as the company will likely stick to four or five key models. Among those, Motor Trend says among those will be new versions of the Lucerne, Enclave, Regal, Lacrosse, as well as a compact Buick. Fans of the brand may recoil at the pairing of “compact” and “Buick”, but that’s music to our ears. It means for the first time, General Motors is beginning to eye what buyers need, not what they want. In the end, the latter sells far fewer vehicles. [Source: MotorTrend]

Why does GM need Buick when it has Cadillac? Perhaps for China market. In my opinion, only Saturn can touch the hearts and minds of foreign-minded car buyers. It should have been the marketing weapon of choice.
