Mechanic Q: My CD Player will not load?

After ejecting a CD my 6 Disc unit will not allow me to load a new CD. When I start the car it shows that the unit is preparing to load by showing Wait, but it soon goes dark and makes no sound as if anything mechanical is occuring. Any thoughts?
