Mechanic Q: My 96' jeep cherokee turns off when I stop accelerating it??

I can't move my car its been a week I try to turn it on and it makes a sound as if my battery is dead and after countless trys it finally turns on but only remains on as my foot is on the gas as soon as I hit the brakes to reverse it turns off. What problem could my car have?
