Q: my 91 jimmy 4.3L starts slow and idles rough for about 15sec. why??

New battery but truck seems as if too much back compression but cat. is good. After about 15-20 sec. of running it smooths out, also when im driving it feels as if something is holding the truck back. Great take off power though. Any suggestions would be great.
