Question: 1997 jetta hard shifting

1997 VW Jetta 2.0 automatic. Started shifting hard in 2nd, 3rd and 4th. I would have to let off the gas for it to shift right. RPMs go to about 50 RPMs b4 shifting. Car started to be real sluggish in drive when taking off bc it was taking off in 3rd gear. Finally would not shift at all in drive so I had to shift manually and it was fine. Now it is shifting thru all gears just longer and hard. No codes showing no dash lights coming on, fluid has been changed. Put a transmission speed sensor on and helped with shifting a little bit but still so long to shift and hard.

You need a transmission. It's telling you that with the way it shifts. Sorry for the bad news.

The fluid came out clean no flakes in it and it is shifting good after the transmission speed sensor and fluid change.

You said long shift and hard. So I would say the transmission is not good. You could have some time before it goes out but not long

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
