Question: 2001 Kia Rio Right front drive half shaft

I have a factory manual and it doesn't show the parts accurately and I am hoping you can assist in solving this problem. While changing the bearings in the front right hub, the axle at the tripod joint slipped out of the tripod housing as there is no stopper ring as the book shows. Am unable to reinsert the tripod joint in to its tripod housing. The drive shaft was replaced 5000 miles ago and appears to be in good shape. The shafts that the tripod bearings go on seem to be real tight when you, start to insert them in the housing.

To reinstall most outer CV joints you have to tap the end of the shaft with a hammer. (There's a c-clip on the shaft that hold the joint in place) Use a block of wood between the shaft and the axle so you don't damage the threads. I'd need to see your specific vehicle to see what is going on, but the joint shouldn't have come apart unless you were tapping on it.

There are probably online sources with instruction guides on the internet. Google "free online repair guides" and you should be able to find some service information.

Also check youtube as many people have posted videos of simple repairs

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
