Question: 2004 Dodge SX (NEON) why won`t my car start sometimes

just recently i started having some starting issues with my car. I first noticed that when i tried to turn the key over, it took longer than usual for the ignition to ignite. Absolutely nothing was happening. All the lights come on and i seem to have power but then after about 5 seconds, it would start up. Then recently i got into my car and when i turned it over, nothing happened when you put the key in the ignition and turn it there is silence...nothing happened. I tried it 3-4 times and then it started right up. I even pushed the key in further and thought that maybe the key was not all the way in the first time. I drove about 30 Kms and stopped to run a quick errand that only took me 5 mins and when i got back in my car and tried to start it...nothing happened. There was not clicking or anything..complete silence. All my dashboard lights were working and my dome light and power windows and doors but no starting. I had a relative come and try to give me a jump start but that would not work. I got her to take me home and get another vehicle and when i went back to my car to have it towed a few hours later...it started right up. I took it right home (a 30 km drive) and i shut it off and it would not start again. The next morning it started right up again. We figured it was the started so we replaced the started and it seemed fine for a few days as we were only running short 2-5 km errands. I again took it for a run that was close to 30 kms again and when i shut it off....it would not start back up. I waited about 1 and a half hours and tried it and it started right back up again. I knew it was not going to start before i tried because normally when i turn the car off my radio goes out but on this night when i turned the key back and took it out...my radio stayed on...it was almost as if the ignition did not know the car was shut off. It was weird and never happened to me before. Can you tell me what is wrong with my car before i keep spending a fortune...i already replaced the transmission last April. Thanks in advance!!

You have a problem with the starter, it's connections, the wiring, the start relay, or the ignition switch.

Should be an easy diagnoses for a competent mechanic.

If you aren't getting noise from the starter with the key turned to start, it's probably the ignition switch. A proper diagnoses is your first step.

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
