Question: 2004 gmc Yukon. When taking off fuel cap a lot of pressure along with fumes come out.

Lots of pressure, air, and gas fumes come out when taking off fuel cap. Thought the fuel cap want sealing so replaced it. Didn't fix the problem. Also noticed the last couple of days fuel is being used twice as fast as normal. A ten mile trip now shows up on the range as using 40 miles worth of gas.

Have the evap system checked for a plugged vent solenoid or line. Could be why you have a lot of pressure.

As to the fuel consumption, the two problems are probably not related.

For all hard starting or engine performance issues, you should always start with the basics. Make sure the tune up items are done and check the charging and starting systems. The engine must have the basics done in order for it to be able to run correctly. Many things can cause this type of problem, and the simplest sometimes get overlooked.
