Question: 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 5.7 4wd

The starter in my jeep went and I brought it to a local shop. What should I have expected the price to be to replace the starter? I ended up paying $627 and can pretty much guarantee that I overpaid.

You can look up the labor time using the 'repair cost calculator' link, and you'll have to use an online auto parts store to get a price on the part. That does sound pretty high for a starter, if you have the work order, you can check and see if there was anything else included that took the price up that high.

Also, in many states, you're required to sign a written estimate of the price before the repair. If you didn't sign anything, you have grounds for a case--or at least an argument.
