Question: 2005 vw touareg

my touaregs emission control light began flashing and beeping,i immediatly carried it to a mechanic,the car was sputtering and shaking like crazy. the mechanic put it on the machine and said it showed missing on all cylinders,he took it off and put it back on and it showed missing on coil #2.could it possibly be the fuel pump or fuel filter? he is at a loss as to what the problem is,this car only has 52'000 miles on it. thankyou for your help

If the emission control light on, it means that diagnostic codes have been set. When it is put on a scan tool to read those codes, there is a diagnostic procedure to follow for each code. If your mechanic is not familiar with how to follow a diagnostic, I recommend finding one who does--or else your repair could cost a lot more money than necessary.

If you post the codes, I can give you some info on the procedure, but if you're paying to have your car fixed then you're not getting your money's worth. This is basic stuff and a real mechanic should know how to do it.
