Question: 30,000 Mile Maintence

The service section of the dealer I lease my 2010 Buick Enclave AWD from is recommending I have them do a 30,000 mile maintenance. Unlike the 30k "inspection" list in your web site, and the same statement about a 30k inspection in my owner's manual the Dealer is saying I need to have most of the fluids in the car replaced : transmission, brake, differential, and others, at a cost of around $1,000. Are they right? Is all that necessary/advisable/required?

Follow your owner's manual. Dealer recommended service is different from factory recommended service (I wish it wasn't) Sometimes dealers use a service matrix that is kind of "one size fits all" so extra services that are not required get done. It won't hurt anything except your pocket book to have them done. The owner's manual lists what the car maker recommends and that is all that is required in most cases.

I suspected as much. It is unfortunate that the dealers occasionally recommend maintenance that primarily serves their financial interests and not the car.
