Question: 98 ford explorer has no reverse

1998 ford explorer drives and shifts fine and the fluid is full with the right type of automatic transmission fluid, but when you put it in reverse the car will not move. My question is I have an oppertunity to purchase a used transmission for $300, how much should I expect to pay a mechanic to just swap it out? I live in Northern Minnesota zip 55746.
