Question: A coolant/oil cross contamination happened before I got my car. How much to clean all that muck out?

Whatever previously caused the coolant/oil contamination has been amended, since the oil well is not in any way contaminated at this point. I recently replaced the radiator and got a coolant flush, thinking the problem may have been stop leak that the previous owners may have used on the vehicle. However, I just went to have it flushed again, and the moment I returned home, the coolant well was contaminated with the same muddy brown sludge as before. My question is, how much will an auto shop charge me in labor/fluids to completely clean all of the engine passageways, hoses, radiator, etc? I believe that doing this will completely correct the issue.

I would take it to a shop and make sure that you still don't have a problem. With two flushes the fluid should be ok.

I plan to take it back to the shop to have it re-evaluated. However, if it is a simple matter of them doing a thorough cleaning of all the parts, hoses, passageways, how much do you think that will run me in labor?

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
