Question: abs light and traction control light stays on

the battery had shorted and after replacing the battery , now the abs light and the traction control light stays on, along with the brakr light. i disconnected the battery and pulled alled the fuses and i also tried to turn the traction control off by putting the transmission in first gear and cyclinf the trans from park to first and any thing the owners manual suggested. i am trying to prevent taking the vehicle to the dealer. any help is appreciated, thanx!!

I would check the brake fluid level. If it's low fill it up. That should take care of your problem. If that does not work you need to have a shop check your codes in the abs system. That will tell you what part of the system is bad.
