Question: Are these connected?

I just had my passenger motor mount go bad, and my left front control arm at the same time. They wanted to charge for both, but after calling toyota they found they would cover the control arm, but say that the motor mount couldn't have been caused by the other. They say "It's like hurting your shoulder and having your toe hurt from it" Yes they did use this. Is that true that they could in no way be connected?
