Question: Automatic Subaru Legacy reving but not speeding up.

My 1992 automatic Subaru legacy wagon is having an issue when I press on the gas. The car will rev up but it wont speed up at all. It happens at random times not specifically from a dead stop or already moving. If I let up on the gas and press down again it will work fine so it only happens every once in awhile. Otherwise I can hear it shift fine and it feels good. There are no other issues with reversing or anything like that and the transmission fluid is clean, and at a good level. What are the possibilities that this could be?

That sounds like the transmission is either slipping or not going into gear. Have the ATF and filter replaced, it's possible that there is a block in the valve body.
