Question: Backpark cost to replace engine?

Engine overheated, loss power and melted dip stick. it's in the shop now and i just want to be prepared. what's the cost to replace the engine/

Depends on what you're replacing it with? Repairing existing, replace with new engine, or junkyard replacement. Plus, you'll need to know which engine you've got. Was the shop not able to give you a worse case scenario?
