Question: Best way to remove and replace freeze plug?

Freeze plug on driver side in front of oil filter has a hole in it and needs to be replaced. I have tried the "easy removal" option of tapping the plug with a punch and all I have accomplised is denting the plug. Suggestions......short of pulling the engine?

Yes make a hole in it. Use channel locks to remove it. If that does not work then hit the sides. You can't hurt it.
