Question: Camshaft position actuator ABank-1 circuit malfunction

I bought an 03 jetta 1.8t and just got code P0010 camshaft position actuator ABank-1 circuit malfunction)
The engine runs strong and smooth with no obvious noise or nocking to be heard especially from the camshaft chain. Would that be a sensor issue that needs replacing or something else? Thank you in advanced for your help.

Basically, the variable valve timing actuator or it's circuit are having an issue. More than likely it is the actuator itself, but I'd need to see it to be sure.
