Question: can straigh pipe make your down stream o2 senor go bad

my check engine light came on and i had it checked out and it said catalyst below threshold so i replaced the upstream o2 senor and it still is on.i found out the person that had the car before me cut out the cat and ran straight pipe should i replace the downstream o2 sensor or will it still cause a fault

The downstream o2 is setting a fault because there is no cat. It's there to measure cat efficiency... and there's no way to keep the check engine light off without it. No point in replacing it, unless you want to put a cat in.
