Question: cant figure out where to go next

my lumina had a problem with dieing ever so often. when it would die it was like i shut the key off. it would start right back up with no problem. i started out changing the fuel filter, then i changed the fuel pump, and the fuel pressure regulator. i also changed the spark plugs, plug wires, and also the coil packs. the vehicle still wont start.

May be the Crank Position Sensor is not working well.

It sends out the RPM signal to the PCM. If it is bad, there is no RPM signal, and the PCM will not command the injectors to fire. Easiest way to see if it works is to hook up a scantool and crank the engine. Monitor the datastream for RPM. If you see RPM then the sensor is working, if it reads zero RPM, then there is a problem with the Crank Position Sensor circuit.

It is common for them to fail when driving (like someone shut the ignition key off) as they heat up. And when they cool down they work again for a while, until they fail altogether.
