Question: Car Burning lot of fuel

my 2004 Kia Amanti is burning a lot of Fuel,can you tell me why?

For all hard starting or engine performance issues, you should always start with the basics. Make sure the tune up items are done and check the charging and starting systems. The engine must have the basics done in order for it to be able to run correctly. Many things can cause this type of problem, and the simplest sometimes get overlooked.

It may be that a sensor is not reading correctly, sending a false signal to the PCM that the system is lean. The PCM is then widening the injector pulse and making the car run richer than it should.

If the check engine light is on, have the codes pulled to see where the issue is. If it's not on, you'll probably need a shop to look at it.
