Question: car dies while driving

my car dies while i'm driving. bought a new battery and it still has the same problem. the day it first happened i smelled a burning rubber smell, someone checked the belt but was fine. had the battery tested and it failed. when i drive the lights dim, radio shuts off, heater blower slows, the abs and brake lights come... occasionally the battery light comes on, and then it just stops running all of a sudden. i try to start it and i get the clicking sound. i have been on this site which said to check starter and solinoid? and another site said to check for a faulty alternator and serpentine belt. any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Have the charging system tested. Many auto parts stores will do this for free, call around to find one that has the proper equipment. If the charging system is not working properly it will cause the symptoms you are describing, as well as wear out the battery.
