Question: car over heating

Our car was squealing like it was the belt and a neighbor of mine told me it was the water pump. We replaced the water pump and now the car is over heating. Could someone help with what could be happening.

Check your thermostat operation. If the pump failed, it could have damaged the t-stat as well.
