Question: Car revs high but doesn't really accelerate.

When driving the car around town the car is fine however, once the car goes into the highway it will accelerate fine until about 50 mph then I can hear the engine rev high but the car accelerates little or almost not at all. Transmission was replaced a few months ago, it was used. Also the egr valve was replaced.
