Question: car running funny

my 1996 saturn...when I start to drive and accelerate the engine gets loud and it hesitates like it doesnt want to go. Then when I look under the hood theres smoke coming from the red transmission dipstick

It sounds like the engine is revving (high rps) but you're not moving faster. That's usually caused by the transmission 'slipping', which is often a sign of irreversible wear on the transmission, requiring major work. But first, you should eliminate the simple things like making sure there's transmission fluid and it's in good condition, and have the transmission inspected by a reputable shop.
