Question: Car won't start right away

My car is having trouble starting and once it does start the engine vibrates. We tested the idle speed control valve and it showed up as questionable. It idles at around or under 500. We aren't sure exactly what the problem is. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

For all hard starting or engine performance issues, you should always start with the basics. Make sure the tune up items are done and check the charging and starting systems. The engine must have the basics done in order for it to be able to run correctly. Many things can cause this type of problem, and the simplest sometimes get overlooked.

If the IAC valve is questionable, you probably should replace it and go from there. It is the main idle control device.
