Question: carburator

I have the origional rochester carb. Problem is the car does not idle well. When you come up to a red light the car gradually idles down and ofter dies. I f I increase the idle setting the car tend to pull forward. This could be a choke problem but I an not sure. I can't seem to get a straight answer from the repair shop. Answer is just leave it with us. They say it could cost from $100 to $600. or more. Thanks for your help..Dick
