Question: Changing Ignition Key Module on Steering Column

Changing ignition key module on steering column, pulled steering wheel and there is a slotted plate behind steering wheel how do I remove plate to access ignition key module?

From my understanding, all you have to do is place the ignition in the "OFF - UNLOCK" position then remove the switch attaching screws. Disconnect the switch from control rod and electrical connector from the switch, then take out the switch from the column.
