Question: Check Engine Light Keeps coming on.

I just bought my 08 Suzuki Forenza in Nov. 2011 and recently the check engine light has been coming on. It will stay on for a little while and then go back off again.

Within the past week it has started to come on while i am driving the car and I feel the car give a jump and then start to decelerate until I pull my foot off the gas completely and then put it back on to accelerate. This has happend twice so far once while I was on the highway going about 75 mph and then again while i was driving in the city going about 40 mph.

Everytime i have tried to take it in this week the light has gone off and no one could help me. It is still under warranty but they recently closed down the shop in Tucson and I will have to drive it to pheonix to be fixed. Do you think this is a problem that can be fixed locally for a small cost?

Any Ideas?

The codes should not auto erase. If the check engine lamp was on, the code is stored until the code is erased.

Maybe purchase your own code reader (they are under $100) and retrieve the codes yourself the next time the lamp comes on.

It's probably a minor emission issue if it comes a goes. Maybe an EVAP leak etc...
