Question: code PO1217

overheating can go 3miles and it overheats

Sorry, you have too many digits in the code you listed. It probably should be either a P1217 or a P0217, In any case, it should only have 5 digits.

I suspect it is P1217 NISSAN - Engine Over Temperature since that is an over heat code. here is a link to information on that code.

If that is incorrect, please repost the code so I can look up the enabling criteria information on it. That way I can better answer your question. Thanks.

Since it overheats so quickly I'd suspect the thermostat is stuck closed or possibly the fan is not working correctly.
