Question: could a cylinder # 4 piston get a hole in it in 40 days from high boost and low grade fuel?

I bought a used 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI with about 9,000 miles had it for 40 days, it broke down, Subaru will not cover the warrant on it. Says it was run too hard.

Yes it could. But you should have heard a noise comming from the engine. I would have some one else look at the engine. The dealer could be wrong. 40 days is not a long time to own a car and have it brake. Did you buy it from the dealer?
