Question: cracked head or gasket???

no visible signs of coolant loss, oil smells of coolant, white smoke from exhaust. replaced lower intake gaskets last spring, used the same bolts. was told that may b the problem. I have motor all apart down to the lower manifold. needto get a recomendation on what to do next? plus lots of rust throughout this process, h2o pump, radiator all hoses. need help!!!!

If you have the intake off look for signs of leakage into the oil system. If there are, the repair may have failed. If not, it may be the head or gasket. A leak don test may be needed to determine where the failure is. unless the service manual called for new bolts, they shouldn't have made a difference. If it did, then the bolts are probably stretch to torque and cannot be reused as they will not hold the torque needed to keep the gasket sealed.
