Question: cruise control issue

the cruise control on my car randomly kicks off. I can go all day with it on than all of sudden it kicks off. After it kicks off it keeps doing it? Any suggestion on what could be going wrong?

It chould be the brake light switch. Make sure that the brake lights are not come on when the cruise stops working. If that is good. The controler under the hood could be getting weak. It the part the goes from the throttle to a little control box.

Hi Richard, I am not sure how to check to see if the brake light comes on when i am driving it down the road. Also, is the controller an easy fix? I forgot to mention that i have a 2002 honda civic lx, 1.7 liter engine.
