Question: do brake shoes need to be relaced after gear oil has soaked them or is cleaning with brake clener ok

My rear axel seal was replaced &pads cleaned. Soon after when car is driven for a while the brake tends to grab when quickly applied. Do the pads need to be changed after being soaked by the gear oils?
