Question: Do I need an AC Compressor?

My car has been making this loud sound, like the belt was off, well once this started happening, my AC went out. Turns out it needed a bearing in the AC pulley. I get that fixed and the sound stops, but the AC is still not working. I recharged my AC and its still not working. Do I need an AC Compressor? I know its expensive and winter but I just wanted to know before I buy. Thanks!

To answer that, you'll need to inspect the a/c compressor. There's more than one reason why the a/c is not working. Here's some info on how to test the a/c system to guide you:
