Question: Does a gas tank leak & erratic engine relate to each other?

I have had my Aurora's intake manifold, gaskets, & O rings replaced (very $$$$) and then the computer replaced but only when the tank is full do I still smell gas & I can see a short trail of fuel from my driveway into the street when I back out which, along with bad performance, is what lead to the initiall repairs that my mechanic reccomended. Could having a leaking gas tank be a cause for bad performance even after these fixes?

Possibly. It depends where the leak is. In any event, the leak should be fixed immediately as it is a fire hazard.
