Question: Engine burning oil

I found a 1993 toyota truck that I would like to buy. It has over 300 000 km's on it and the guy says that it burns a little bit of oil. How much am I looking at for repairing this? It has a 6 cylinder 3 litre engine and its a 5 speed manual.

If the oil is leaking past the valve stems you'll have to rebuild the heads. If it's blow-by at the rings you're looking at an engine rebuild. If it's a very small amount of oil you could probably live with it, but that's a lot of mileage and it sounds like you're buying a major engine repair.
