Question: Engine Light

200 Toyota Camry Previous message related to Overheating..
I fail to state regarding "Engine Light" as I remember my "Engine" light did not come on to warn me. It came on about 4-5 miles before it overheated. I did not notice or see it anytime before that Alert me to "Check My Engine?
Another question Can an Engine Light be tampered with? Thank You

The engine lamp wont come on to warn you that the engine is overheating. That's what the temp gauge is for.

It may come on as a RESULT from the overheating or another issue in the cooling system.

The engine lamp could be tampered with I suppose. The lamp just represents a condition, it's a scan tool and it's communication with the engine computer that's really important.
