Question: engine swap

i own a 2003 explorer sport trac 4.0 sohc. the stock engine is shot and i was wondering if the 4.0 out of a 98 explorer would interchange.

Probably not. The computer and sensors in an 03 are much more sophisticated than a 98. If it was possible, you'd probably have to take the 98 wiring harness and computer just to make it run, but even your instrument cluster is a computer (module) now so it probably would not interface properly with the 98 computer.
